Rooney to miss the whole Euro Group Stage

England striker Wayne Rooney has received a three-match ban from UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body following his sending-off issued by the German referee Wolfgang Stark in the Group G qualifier against Montenegro.
An appeal may be lodged against the verdict of the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body within three days of the dispatch of the reasoned decision.

England coach Fabio Capello has just announced that Rooney will not play any role in his first team before and during the final tournament.

The UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body's decision is made up by the assessment of the respective referee and the assessment of the respective inspector who consults the TV videos.

  1. It's a good decision, but I think that UEFA will give him only a two-match ban after an appeal. By the way, my blog with only the most important information mainly about a referees appointments in Poland and Europe. In the world of translators it may be in Polish at all ;)

  3. Very nice, I'll put it on "More Links"!

  4. ;) Thanks, but you are the really master of blogging. Full respect and regards.

  5. Thanks, I only do my best. The most important is the English language, being no native speaker is sometimes a hurdle.
And of course it is hard to combine school (or job) with that.
I created a poll on the right hand-side which should show which sort of posts you prefer (the result should give me a hint which texts I should focus on etc.).

    Back to the topic:
I fully agree that there will certainly an appeal to UEFA, nowadays it is nearly a miracle if a federation or club does not appeals to the UEFA.
I emphasize that this decision does not actually belong to refereeing, the Disciplinary Body are two seperate instances, nonetheless it was quite interesting and I think it is a good and important signal UEFA made, because one has to take into consideration what this judgement means in reality: the UEFA renounces Rooney, a star, a player which is probably one of the ten most famous and popular players. Bad for the tournament, but that may not and did not influence a decision made by this instance.

  6. hm no this poll is stupid..

  7. now there is a poll which should show your choices for the 1st and 2nd leg of the - probably - hottest match amongst the play-offs for UEFA Euro 2012.
Some names are not listed, as Atkinson, Undiano and Webb recently refereed Croatia and Turkey. I know that Rizzoli had Turkey as well, but it was in June..
